Junior Rugby League season kicks off | Harbord United Devils enters its 71st year

It's a little delayed, but the Junior Rugby League season finally kicked off last weekend, with the Harbord United Devils leading the charge, having recently celebrated a big birthday! Club Secretary Bob Butcher has been involved with the Club for 40 years, winning the Manly Warringah District Junior Rugby League Football Club’s Volunteer of the Year award in 2017.

"We have pretty strong numbers this year, with 18 teams signed up for the season," the North Curl Curl local says. "And while winning would be a bonus, it's not what's most important. Keeping the kids at the club is always our first priority."

Founded in 1950 the Harbord United Junior Rugby League Football Club has a long tradition of providing a friendly family based atmosphere for boys and girls to enjoy playing rugby league. Affectionately known as the Devils, the children who play for the club are anything but...

Many of its senior players have been with the club since taking to the field as an Under 6. Former Manly Warringah Sea Eagles star Steve Menzies played his entire junior rugby league career with Harbord United.

Unfortunately due to Covid-19 lockdowns, this year's rugby league season had a much-delayed start, but thankfully it will be extended till the end of September (shout out to Summer Sports for giving us a few extra weekends).

As proud sponsors of the Harbord United Devils - more than 10 years and counting - Goodspanner will be cheering on those red-and-white jerseys this season, so hope to see you there. Go the Devils!
