Off-roading at night | 4 tips to stay safe after dark

Off-roading at night: Lightforce LED bar

Needless to say, off-roading at night comes with its own set of challenges. But it’s definitely worth doing! It’s important to take the right precautions to ensure your safety during the trip.

Take a mate

Avoid driving trails at night alone - either ride with someone or have them follow you in another vehicle. It goes without saying that normal off-roading issues, like getting stuck, are that much harder to sort out in the dark. Thinking, “But I’ll have my phone,” is a fool’s errand - the best off-roading tracks have little to no phone reception. Plus, should you suffer an injury, you want someone there to help and/or get help.

Light it up

An important aspect of off-roading at night is having enough light. The more, the better - whatever your wheels of choice, make ’em look like the Christmas tree of your dreams. Opposite Lock’s range of lighting options make this easy: LED Driving lights, single and dual row bars, halogen driving lights, utility lights, plus all the filters, wiring harnesses, anti-theft locknuts, upgrade kits and switches you might need to go along with them.

Take it sloo-oooow

Off-roading is the opposite of racing—it’s all about overcoming the challenges the trail may have to offer. To remain as safe as possible, drive slow over any obstacles so your vehicle can handle them successfully. Don’t try anything you haven’t done before during the day at night. The best thing you can do is to use great caution during your trip.
